How come Ethiopia is not part of the ICC?

How come Ethiopia is not part of the ICC?

I have been following the case in Sudan, specifically the ICC case against President Omar al-Bashir. I know that he moves about through many African nations and I noticed that one nation he traveled to was Ethiopia. It then mentioned that Ethiopia wasn't part of the International Crimes Court so they have no requirement to extradite al- Bashir, but I was wondering why they were not a part of the ICC?

Any information would be helpful, I'm just curious! Thanks!

Answer by Ethio In Ethio AND PROUD !
Hi

1- what's the point of the ICC? Take the example of the genocide in Rwanda. 1,000,000 people died in 100 days. The UN did nothing. Absolutely nothing to save even a few lives. And they were the ones holding the guns. The ICC takes to court how many people over the genocide? Five? And one of them was more for the killing of Belgian soldiers than the Rwandans.

2-Nobody trusts the big organizations. Ethiopia believed in the UN during WWII, but we were left high and dry and then stabbed in the back when the Italians finally decided to invade. Arms embargoes were put on BOTH Ethiopia and Italy. One country totally defenseless, because it had faith in the UN and the other armed to the teeth and producing it's own arms.

3-Al-Bashir may be problem, he is primarily Sudan's problem. That doesn't mean that everyone should turn a blind eye to the problems in Darfur. There are plenty of ways to help those people if one really wants to. How many camps are there in neighboring Chad for the refugees fleeing? How much aid is being given? If its help that is wanted why not start with ones that are there to be helped? Why concentrate on one guy?

4-Who's to say who goes to jail and not? Everyone knows that Eritrea's Isaias Afeworki has been on a warpath since day one. What is being done about him? What criteria excludes him? The Guineans? The Burmese? North Koreans? What's the agenda?

So give us a break with the self-righteous show-boats that have their own winds behind their sails.

One Love!!!

In partnership with Greener Ethiopia (GE) and Forum for Environment (FFE), Trees for the Future (TREES) hosted a World Environment Day 2012 Celebration in Konso. Around 500 women, men and youth from five communities participated in the event. Activities during the day included a tour of one of our seedling nurseries for government reps and partners, speeches by tribal elders, tree planting in a nearby watershed, traditional dances, and environmental-themed songs and skits, written by TREES'/GE's Gocha Nursery Manager and performed by youth green clubs that were established in 2011 by TREES/GE. FFE provided funding for planting tools to be distributed to TREES/GE target communities for their seedling nurseries and training centers. The day was wrapped up with a feast of kurkufa (a local dish made of Moringa stenopetala) and cheka, a local brew made from corn.
