How were India's economy and culture affected by British imperialization?

Also, if you happen to know any other major things that were affected by the British colonization in India, that would be nice.

India best answer:

Answer by urasay
economy, to a great extent. they started the postal service and the railways. not that they would not have come to india if not for the british but they would have come at a different time and they would not have come to all of india at once. also, a lot of indian money went into the queens chest (no pun intended there).
culture, well there were conversions (from hinduism to christianity) that influenced the culture to a great extent but then ultimately indians found a way around it and the ppl who converted from the upper castes kept the 'lower caste christians' away. education was more accessible. well the british did follow a policy or not intervening in the local matters and let the local rulers handle it but the rulers were influenced to an extent by them. also not to forget that the indian national congress was started by an english lady and it sure did play an important role in getting the indians their freedom. (i am a person who believes that they were not the only ones who did something)

random trivia- did u know that mahatma gandhi did not agree to the partition of india, he simply did not say anything because the decision was made on a monday and that was his weekly silence day.

Colourful wrapped tree and streamers.

One thing I enjoy in India is the degree of decoration made for any celebration - a festival, wedding, birth, even opening of a store.
