<h3>Why couldn't the US use the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to fuel the economy like in WW2?</h3>

The second world war helped pump up the US economy and job market and end the great depression. Why did it do the opposite with Iraq and Afghanistan?

Also, if the US only used the military and didn't use contractors would it have made a difference?
