Do public school teachers in Jamaica make enough money to support themselves?

How does one go about finding a teaching job in Jamaica? I have checked the website for the Ministry of Education and Youth but job vacancies listed only are in administration and not teaching. Can a single teacher with an advanced degree and teaching experience live comfortably? Do you know if schools would be willing to hire a teacher from the States?
Thank you for your replies. In California, it is also hard to make a living as a teacher. You just have enough to pay for the basics because everything is so expensive here. I'm not looking to get rich, just for a different experience, and I love visiting Jamaica. Please continue giving information...........
