Madagascar best answer:

Answer by Brigitte H
Fossa, pronounced like foosa, Cryptoprocta ferox is endemic in Madagascar ( only to find in Madagascar ).
One study found that vertebrates comprised 94% of the diet of fossas, with endemic lemurs comprising over 50% ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lemur ), as well as endemic tenrecs (9%) ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tenrec ), lizards (9%) birds (2%), also snakes, rodents, insects and seeds (5%).

The animal you are specifically looking for should be the tenrec. The species of Madagascar: http://www.wildmadagascar.org/wildlife/tenrecs.html
