What's the difference between Harvest Moon DS and Harvest Moon DS Sunshine Islands?

<h3>What's the difference between Harvest Moon DS and Harvest Moon DS Sunshine Islands?</h3>

I remember having Harvest Moon DS a few years ago when it first came out, and I loved it...but I sold it when i grew out of playing DS! :( Now I want to buy it again, but I'm not sure if I want to get a newer version (I've been told Sunshine Islands is the best). What's the difference between the original version and the newer ones? :P xxx

<p><i>Answer by Salt Water</i><br/>There are many many differences. Sunshine Island is not a newer version of Harvest Moon DS. They are both Harvest Moons but they are totally different games. Basically the only things that are the same are the core elements. So in both games you run a farm, there are festivals, you can befriend characters, you can get married/have a kid things like that. But everything else is pretty much different.

There are other HM games that could be considered other versions of Harvest Moon DS. But Sunshine Island is not one of those games.

Here is a list of some of the many differences between HMDS and HMSI:
-The graphics
-Some of the controls/the equipment method
-In HMDS you must play as a male character in SI you can choose your gender
-All the characters
-The settings
-The plots
-The festivals
-The way you upgrade tools
-How you buy items
-The way you cook
-The mines
-How Harvest Sprites work
-What pets do
Etc.

Even though you like Harvest Moon DS it is possible you won't like Sunshine Island because they are so different. But if you like Harvest Moon in general you should be able to enjoy both games.</p>
