Planning a trip from the US to the Netherlands?

In a few months from now, I am planning a trip from the US to the Netherlands. Landing in Amsterdam but will be spending most my time in Rotterdam. I need to know, besides the obvious passport, what exactly I will need to be able to go there. Also, I am planning to take a small trip from there to Paris, France while I am there as well.
Thanks for any advice/help!

Went out with a ranger to look for flamingo's in the Netherlands before they fly south. It was a beautiful warm after summer's day on a boat :)
