I am getting married in Cyprus on 1st Sept 2010, our budget has already been strecthed and cannot afford a photographer so we are chancing if any aspiring photographers would like to build their portfolio by taking our pic's? there are some fantastic views out there and we are getting married overlooking the beach. if you are a photographer or know of any possibilities for me, please let me know.

<p><i>Answer by casperskitty</i><br/>I understand not wanting to go into debt to pay for a wedding so I will give you some advice.
You could look on craigslist. Just be aware that there are a lot of photographers who advertise on craigslist who do not know what they are doing. You will want to see the work they have done to get an idea of their ability.
And you could also go to your local college or university and speak with the photography instructors. They can tell you which students might be interested and might be able to do the job.
Just keep in mind that photographing a wedding is completely different than doing portraits and many photographers don't understand this. Everything is happening on a schedule and so the photographer has to be quick and get the shots that are important. And you need to let the photographer know which shots are important to you. You might also designate a willing individual to 'help' the photographer during the posed shots. This person should know all of the people you want photographed for the posed shots and can round them up to speed up the process.

edit-I do agree that if you had a decent budget for the wedding, the photographer should have been a priority. But hindsight is 20/20 and you may not be able to cancel anything without losing deposits which means you still wouldn't have the money for a photographer now.
You may not find someone advertised on craigslist willing to do the wedding for experience but you may find someone willing by running an ad of your own. And students are often willing to shoot just about anything to get more experience, build their portfolio and to get exposure.</p>
