What would my lifestyle be like if I moved to Colombia?

I am a single male and work remotely (via internet) for a US based company at an annual salary of $ 60,000/year. I would like to move (or live most of the year) out of the country and am seriously considering Colombia (maybe Barranquilla, Cartegena or Medellin). Visited BQ and really liked it. What would my lifestyle be like there if I did so? Would it be difficult to make friends and meet people there? Any input would be appreciated.

Answer by SouthAmericanPostcard
I work on my computer too and have been traveling in Sth America for 18 months now, I lived in Colombia for 1yr, Medellin and in Santa Marta. The best place to live is where ever you like the most I think, the coast if you like the hot or Medellin if you like eternal spring.

This is one of the pictures I took on February 4, 2008 at the "Walk for the Peace of Colombia". It started and ended at Olympic Plaza, with a walk along Stephen Avenue Mall. It was quite cold, but everyone seemed quite enthusiastic, and determined to endure the bad weather. People were calling for an end to the kidnappings, killings, and other violence committed by FARC in Colombia.
