What is the best Sandals resort in the Bahamas?

My fiance' and I are trying to take a 6 day honeymoon in the Bahamas this coming summer. However, I've heard mixed reviews about some of the resorts, saying that they are located in extremely poverty stricken areas or areas with high crime rates. Does anyone have some first hand experience based advice they could give about some of the Sandals resorts in the Bahamas? Information on any resorts would be appreciated, not exclusively the Sandals resorts.

Answer by MyParadisePlanner
There are two Sandals resorts in the Bahamas: Sandals Royal Bahamian (http://www.sandals.com/main/bahamian/ba-home.cfm?referral=134793 ) located on Cable Beach in Nassau, which is located in a well-known touristy are. This resort also has a private off shore island so if you don't want to be surrounded by other people at the resort you can take the short boat ride over during the day and find a quiet little place to relax by the beaches over on the private island.
The second one is Sandals Emerald Bay (http://www.sandals.com/main/emerald/em-home.cfm?referral=134793 ). That resort is located in the Exhumas, which are out islands of the Bahamas. That one is a much more private resort and you won't be surrounded by the hustle and bustle of hundreds of other resorts and tourists attractions.
A lot of the places you will travel to in the Caribbean are going to be found in poverty stricken areas. However I have been the Sandals Royal Bahamian resort and I did not feel unsafe at all the entire time we were there. Once you get inside the grounds of the resort you won't even remember what is outside the property because you'll be surrounded by the lush tropical gardens that separate the rest of the world from the resort itself. Plus, the beach here is a lot more private since you aren't on top of a bunch of other big resorts or right near the cruise port so you feel like you have a lot more breathing room there.
If you want I can share some photos with you from my trip. I also have photos from Sandals Emerald Bay if you'd like to see those too.
