What are some good places to party at in Jamaica?

I'm planning to take a trip to Jamaica sometime and was wondering where I could have some fun at, dance at a club, meet a woman friend perhaps, also maybe walk around and enjoy the Jamaican scenery maybe. I'm a 21 year old american guy so what places would someone from Jamaica or that has been to Jamaica suggest?

Answer by Tina
My suggestion would be Negril. During the day it is the capital of laid-back, but at night, it is a great place to party and hand out. The beach, 7 Mile Beach, IMHO is the best. Montego Bay, where you would fly to, is a large city with large city issues and happenings. It really is not for the tourist that wants to get out from behind the hotel/resort walls and explore. Negril is just over an hour away from the airport and the drive is very intresting, so really does pass quickly.
The nightlife in Negril doesn't really get going until after midnight and can go until the wee hours of the morning if that is what you would like. Alfred's has a local band 3 nights a week, Roots Bamboo also has a local band a few nights a week, Thursday nights are Ladies' night at the Jungle Night Club, Scrub-A-Dub (car wash during the day) is a wildish night club every night, day/night pass to Hedo (all-inclusive adults only resort), Rooftop Bar is always good, and then there are places that you can just hang and have a few drinks like Sunbeach, the Corner Bar, Canoe, Fire Water, and many more. Besides the regular happenings, during the high season (Dec-April) there is the One Love Concert Series which brings some pretty big Jamaican performers to Negril. Anything and everything is advertised quite well in Negril. It is easy to find out what is going on, besides the signs, every local knows where to go to party and have a good time, just ask.
I would suggest, if you like getting out and about, not to go All-Inclusive as you won't get your monies worth from the A-I if you are going out and exploring. Besides, Negril has some great food beginning with barrel jerk chicken, roadside soup, all the way to nice dining at places like LTU, Xtabi, Seastar Saturday buffet (and show). Vendors walk the beach during the day so patties & cocobread, fresh fruit & fruit juice, baked goodies, jerk pork, ice cream, and snacks can be found during the day. The vendors don't go into the A-Is.
Here are a few sites for ya to look at:
http://www.negrilinfo.com/negril-map.html - map of Negril, the beach, town, and cliff area.
http://www.alfreds.com/ - this is such a great likkle place! They have accommodations also which just might be what you are looking for
http://rootsbamboobeach.com/ - also has some accommodations on site, great likkle cabins
http://www.negrilonestop.com/ - accommodation search
http://blueholejamaica.ning.com/ - local attraction, about 45 mins away
http://floydspelicanbar.com/ - a likkle bar located on a reef made of reclaimed wood. You take a boat from either Black River or Teasure Beach

Just a suggestion, but if you like to mix with locals and might want to have them back to your room, some places don't allow this and some will charge you and expect the guest to be registered. If you want a place that does not require this, I would suggest Negril Beach Club Condos. NBCC are privately owned condos that are rented out. They are full equipped and all have a small equipped kitchen. Kinda nice to have some cold beer and drinks on hand and also, if you want, you can cook or you can hire a cook to prepare some yummy Jamaican treats.
Just a word of caution I always offer, be smart, leave the expensive jewelery at home, don't flash around cash, be cautious about who you bring to your room, don't walk the beach at 2am under the influence, instead use a private driver when out and about at night.
