Is it wrong to think of Sub Sahara Africa as being primative and savage?

In Sub Sahara Africa, with the notable exception of Botswana democracy is alien concept.
People cling to guns, burn witches, have sex with babies to cure AIDS and so on.
The Romans built an Empire, the Chinese built a wall, Indian built beautiful Mosques and temples. What did Sub Sahara Africans build? A stone hunt at most?
Am I just being racist and stereotypical? Or is there some truth in this?
Botswana best answer:

Answer by Vrarvist
It is true, sex with babies? That's what they accuse whites of. My slavic brothers built huge empires and Ivan the terrible of Russia slaughtered the heavy old mongol army with a small rebel force. Russia freed many countries taken by countries of higher power like turkish people. Russia today is the arguable 1st strongest country alive and Asian and African countries are the weakest (Euro Russia is basically the main power.)
