United States Lawn Mower Racing Association (USLMRA) Hosts the Much Anticipated Annual Series

Gold Eagle Co., makers of fuel stabilizer STA-BIL, founded the United States Lawn Mower Racing Association (USLMRA) to introduce lawn mower racing to the United States. They thought that the sport a good alternative to expensive types of racing like sports-car and motorcycle racing. They also believed it would be a good promotion for their product. They were not mistaken. The inaugural race held in April of 1992 was a tremendous success. Many racers participated in the event, and the sport immediately won the hearts of racing fans all over the country.

Since then, people have been looking forward to the annual STA-BIL National Lawn Mower Racing Series because of the thrill and excitement it brings. The popularity of the sport has brought expansion of the United States Lawn Mower Racing Association in the form of Chapter and affiliated clubs. USLMRA has 42 local chapters and affiliated clubs all over the country. These chapters and clubs also schedule and hold their own local racing events.

Races are held in different states such as: Tennessee, Texas, Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Kentucky, New Jersey, New York, Louisiana, Maine, Utah, Ohio, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin. You need to be a member to participate in any event held by the United States Lawn Mower Racing Association. To be eligible you must be:

At least 18 years old
16 and 17 year-olds may join with parental consent
Pay the minimal membership fee
In the right frame of mind
And have a class-legal racing mower
The minimal membership fee is kept low so everybody can join. As far as modifications are concerned, there are certain rules that you have to follow for each division. Your modifications should be in line with the rules; otherwise, you will not be allowed to race. A rule book can be found online at USLMRA.com; USLMRA's official website. A schedule of racing events as well as a registration form can also be found on the site. Once a member, you can participate in various lawn mower racing events.  The various mower classes include;JP Class

IMOW Class
Prepared Class
Prepared A/P
C/P & B/P
F/X
You may want to familiarize yourself with these before deciding on which division to race in. Generally, rookies should compete in lower divisions and work their way up as mower racing skills are developed. Be prepared to get obsessed with the taste of the track and sport as a whole. Mower racing is no child's play. It requires continuous practice and improvement. The thrill of driving racing your mower around the track and tackling tight turns is an experience that you will surely love.
