What is the percentage of deaths to troops sent to Afghanistan?

I currently got into a relationship with a lovely man who happens to be in the Army. He's 20 and he's going to his second deployment in May. After I talked to this girl in my class that said her husband died in Afghanistan, I got really worried and horrible anxiety. Sick to my stomach and I felt so much for her loss since she's only 24.
Would you say with the way the war is right now that troops are most likely to come back home safely? As much information as possible would be very helpful.
Thank you.
I forgot to mention he's an Army Ranger Mortor.

Answer by Pierce
Very very low, but it depends on he does, I'm assuming he's not in any sort of elite group like the Black Ops or the SEALS. Anyway, only 2000 have died so far, so it's very unlikely he would die. If you're wondering about chance he gets injured? Now that is pretty high, I believe it is 1%.

(KABUL, Afghanistan, Oct. 29, 2010) Afghanistan's national women's soccer team played a friendly match against a pickup team of women assigned to the International Security Assistance Force Headquarters in Kabul. The Afghan women controlled much of the game, but scored just once. That goal, which came in the first half, was enough for the win.
