What are some good art or environmental festivals in Ireland?

My friend is doing a summer internship in Ireland and she wanted to know if there are any art or environmental festivals or similar events going on in July or August. Any help you can give would be fantastic.
Ireland best answer:

Answer by Jay
Sub-culture, or anything that deviates from mass culture in Ireland, is rare. In Dublin, I can think of maybe the Fringe Festival in September which isn't bad, serves some interesting theater,(http://www.fringefest.com). There is the World Culture Festival in August (http://www.festivalofworldcultures.com/). These two are provincial at best, not long-running, and the programme has not been announced; given the dire economic context there's a chance it might not take place. Wexford has a pretty famous opera festival, but that's in October (http://www.wexfordopera.com/). There's a pretty decent film festival in Dublin (February). There is also the traditional music festival Feis Ceoil (http://www.feisceoil.ie/) but that's in March. There's a so-so Jazz festival in Cork (October).
There's three art festivals in July that I have not been to but may be of interest, however I can't vouch for them, if it follows the trend they are likely to be provincial as well:

I've never heard of an environment festival anywhere, so I can't help you there. Check out this site to browse a bit:
