Why does Russia blame us for their suffering during the last couple of decades?

The US didn't do anything to Russia. But I keep seeing posts that blame the US for their poverty. Are they just looking for someone to blame for their own failure?

Answer by Me Ne Frego
Yeah we did. GHWB, during the Reagan years, convinced the Saudi's to increase production of oil in favor of the U.S., specifically to drive down the cost of oil, which bankrupted the Soviets who were heavily reliant on their oil exports.
I don't know if they resent this or not, but that is what happened. That, and the arms race of course, which is of neutral value since we both got sucked into that.

Nicholas I
The monument to the iron-willed and notoriously despotic Russian ruler Nicholas I on St. Isaac's Square was built by renowned Russian architect August Monferrane between 1856 and 1859. Monferrane also built the neighboring St. Isaac's Cathedral.
His despotic rule over Russia from 1825-1855 saw the crushing of the liberal Decembrist revolt and the expanse of Russian territory largely at the expense of Turkey.
