Why are the states that have been touched by Brittain prosperous?

Why are the states that have been touched by Brittain prosperous?

I noticed a lot of the former colonies of the United Kingdom have been very prosperous countries and regions. Examples include Canada and Australia, very developed countries with a high standard of living. Bermuda is another example which is home to the most affluent people in the world. In the United States the 13 colonies are now the financial power houses of the country and has the highest income per household. India despite it's problems is a rich country. Qatar is also very wealthy and prosperous.

You forgot to list Bangladesh, Botswana, Cameroon, Cyprus, Dominica, Gambia, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Rwanda, Samoa, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Swaziland, Tanzania, Tonga, Uganda, and Zambia. You could also list Iran, Jordan, Iraqi, and many other non-commonwealth nations. Many of these are among the poorest of nations and most get huge international funding and have huge internal political problems (i.e. dictatorships), massive human right issues, etc.

I think this is more an issue of wishful thinking and selective examples on your part than any statistical corolation that countries touched by Britian are prosperous.
