What is a current event going on in Afghanistan? How are still involved over there? What are we doing?

All i see on the news is IRAQ this and IRAQ that.
I am just curious as to what is going on in Afghanistan currently?

One topic only please?
i don't need thirty different irrelevant ones,
all though it might me be interesting to read some.

Afghanistan best answer:

Answer by Daniel O
Front Line has recently released an excellent documentary on the situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan titled "The return of the talliban"
The Taliban and Alkaeda have taken refuge in Pakistan where they are effectively recruiting and rebuilding an insurgency raiding back into Afghanistan and Lord knows where else.
Bush has gotten us so deep into Iraq that he cannot effectivly address the growing dilema in Pakistan.
The Bush/ Mushariff rhetoric of being allies is just that , rhetorical.
If the Taliban would just go away they would be the best buddies ever but if either of them go in there and hunt them down and route them out it would be political suicide, Musharriff because he is embedded in a culture that sympathizes with the insurgency and Bush because, having committed to his folly , he can't get his military out of Iraq and campaign effectively on the actual front line where it lies let alone pay for another major campaighn or gain public support for it with an economy based on debt and teetering on collapse let alone the burden that put's on the military already spread thin and stressed out with repeated combat tours.
