On Thursday the 24th we were off again, this time south to Albania.
The Skanderbeg Square in Tirana, Albania reminded us of St. Petersburg, Russia back in 2000: the economy really feels up and coming. I'm willing to bet Tirana will be a major destination for Europeans in just a few years - already it's full of nice restaurants, clubs and bars, waiting for more clients.
The Opera building has a nice terrace, while the mosque is definitely worth visiting. It's one of the few that survived the years of hardcore communist dictatorship under Hoxha's rule.
Our trip to Tirana was surprisingly easy, it definitely sounds harder when described: we shared a taxi with Australian backpackers from southern Montenegro to the border, walked across and got another taxi to a nearby city for a bus to Tirana.</p>
