I met my fiance on a vacation to Costa Rica and we've decided to get married on my next visit down there, whats the next step from there to have him become a US Citizen because I am aware marriage is not enough.

<p><i>Answer by Lhyn</i><br/>marriage is just a means, not an end. you can go 2 ways; file I-129 (petition for alien fiance, as my husband did for me), he stays there until he gets k-1 visa (good for 90 days) and you marry here; or, you go there, marry, you come home (alone) and file I-130 (petition for alien relative). really no diff in time and in both cases he must stay in country of origin</p>
