working and living in the Cayman Islands?

My girlfriend her daughter and I are considering working in the Cayman Islands, we are all Canadian citizens and both of us work in the food and beverage industry as a server and bartender. If anybody has any specific details or preferably experience I would love if you could share it with us. Our main questions are what kind of income would we make (tips), schooling, general cost of living, and work permit requirements. We have already done a lot of research on the net but would like to hear from people with real life experience. Basically how realistic would it be for us to both find a job, cover living expenses/save money and have a 7 year old adjust to moving there. Any help would be greatly appreciated
