What is the most conservative state in Australia with regards to politics and religion?

I've heard it is South Australia, but I really don't know. I hear South Australia tends to lean more towards Labor, but I guess that means that the right faction of Labor is more predominant there. Right?

Australia best answer:

Answer by tentofield
All the States have had Labor and Liberal governments from time to time. None is particularly conservative although some areas of each State are. This is seen in the "safe" seats for both parties. Religious conservatism, particularly fundamentalist "Christian" is also found in pockets but not overall in any State. Most Australians do not like mixing religion and politics. In general about 40% of people in Australia and in all States tend to vote mainly for the ALP while 40% tend to vote mainly for the Coalition with the government of the day being decided by the 20% in the middle.
