Answer by GerdP
It depends on your (unknown) citizenship whether or not you will need to get a tourist visa prior to travel. Passport holders of the following countries can travel to Italy as tourists for up to 90 days without a visa: Albania¹, Andorra, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Bosnia & Herzegovina¹, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, El Salvador, FYROMacedonia¹, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong Kong (SAR), Iceland, Israel, Japan, Liechtenstein, Macao (SAR), Malaysia, Mauritius, Mexico, Monaco, Montenegro¹, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Saint Kitts and Nevis, San Marino, Serbia¹, Seychelles, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan³, United States of America, Uruguay, Vatican City, or Venezuela [¹ = e-passport required; ³ = passport must contain ID card number].
Should you hold another passport you will need to get a visa (fee €60) prior to travel. Since you have entered the question in travel Nepal: Nepalese passport holders need to apply for the Italian visa at the French Consulate General in Kathmandu. The French authorities act on behalf of Italy for visa issues. http://www.ambafrance-np.org/IMG/pdf/notice_visa_2008.pdf ..
