What are my chances of being deployed to Afghanistan?
I leave for basic training in early October of this year as a cavalry scout. I don't have a problem with being deployed to Afghanistan, I'm just wondering with news of troop withdrawals and all troops out by the end of 2014, is there a chance I'll be deployed to Afghanistan? I don't know what the troop withdrawal rate is going to be or what type of troops will be left in Afghanistan.

I don't know definitely, but...
my stepbrother keeps deploying over there (he's been in Army for 7 years and is currently on a yearlong tour to Afghanistan). There are some units being removed from high danger areas, which need to be replaced by other units...but it's hard to say how long this will all keep up.
On the bright side, the "last vehicle in Iraq" has returned stateside, so that sounds like your odds of going over there will be slimming quite rapidly.
