How often do you use your china?

How often do you use your china?

How often do you use your china? Do you use all of the pieces, or some more than others? I am considering not even getting teacups and saucers, and maybe bowls. I just don't see myself using them that often.

Answer by M S
Very rarely, not even once a year once I had kids.
If you are going to do a lot of entertaining, get
dinner plates, salad plates, cups and saucers.
Skip the individual bowls unless you do a lot of
soup courses. And forget the tiny bowls; no
body seems to use those at all! Bread and
butter plates are nice to have, but the salad
plates you can use to serve salad or dessert.

I'd add a meat platter and 2 vegetable dishes.
Any other serving dishes can be glass/crystal
or silver, and you can add them over time.
If you serve coffee, add a cream pitcher and
sugar bowl. Again, those could be crystal
or silver as well.

I love my china, and I love using it. I think it
makes a beautiful table. Once a month I set
my dining room table using some of the pieces
that I have not used in a while. But my kids have
gotten old enough that they don't mess with it, I have
a separate dining room that is not in the way of everyday life, and I have inherited 2 sets of china, some crystal and silver
as well as my own. I hate having it all in the cupboard all the time, even if we aren't actually eating in the dining room, I like to look at it.
