How much does Saudi Arabia and Iran pay religious fanatics to destroy Egypt?

Why has Egypt become more like Saudi Arabia over the years??? :-(
The liberal and secular did not burn down churches and brutally murder and persecute Copts in Egypt.

The Soviet-Egyptian Friendship Monument at the western end of the Aswan Dam, commemorating the financial support Egypt received to build the dam in the 60s.
We had not heard of or seen this monument before and it was an unexpected and rather impressive surprise. There is an elevator in one spire, but it was locked when we arrived. It was also rather difficult to cross the dam, as only vehicle passengers are permitted. It took a little while to get a lift just before the complex was closed for the evening.
The place was pretty-well deserted, except for a couple machine gun-toting guards and two or three other visitors, who you can see at the very base of the structure.
