Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) April 02, 2013
On the heels of the recent Global Cities Initiative announcement, Atlanta will welcome faculty, alumni and program directors from the University of Manchester (UK) Business School on Wednesday, April 10, for an event highlighting Metro Atlantas emerging role in international business and the schools innovative global MBA program.
The visit by Manchester Business School, the only UK business school operating in Americas, recognizes the growing role that Atlanta companies and leaders will play in shaping global trade and markets.
While established business capitals such as Toronto and New York dominate when we think of young professionals challenged with operating across multinational firms and settings, we see Atlanta as a city poised to play a larger role on a broader global stage, says Melissa Holland, Manchester Business School and global MBA program director.
Just as New York Times best-selling author Ram Charan has called attention to a Global Tilt, the Manchester Business School recognizes a shift south in terms of talent, corporate investment and GDP.
With a City of Atlanta median age of 32.9 and nearly 45 percent of the over-25 population holding Bachelors degrees, and more than 13 percent foreign born in the Atlanta MSA, the citys demographics match closely the class profile of the 3,500 students currently enrolled across seven global MBA centers: Manchester, Dubai, Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Sao Paulo and Miami.
Designed for multinational managers, the program combines face-to-face workshops with an interactive online environment. Students can attend all of their workshops in one city or take classes at any of the other locations.
Prospective students can learn more by reading the MBS global MBA blog, currently focused on some of the issues raised by author Ram Charan about skills emerging business leaders need to succeed in a tilted world, including developing the skills crucial to leading a global organization, including mastering local contexts.
The Manchester Business School event will begin at 6 p.m. at Dantanna's, Buckhead, 3400 Around Lenox Dr., NE 304, Atlanta, GA 30326. To register for the Atlanta Event, visit http://miami.mbs.ac.uk/Events.aspx.
