medifast
The Medifast weight loss program has helped thousands of individuals to lose the weight that they have been trying to lose for many years. Not only is it a complete solution for anybody trying to lose weight, it also has options that fit in with various lifestyles that need to be more concerned about what kind of food they consume, such as vegetarians and diabetics.
If you are a vegetarian who is struggling with their weight and would like to use the Medifast weight loss program in order to lose the fat, but you weren't sure whether it was appropriate for a vegetarian diet, let me assure you that you'll have plenty of options on Medifast as a vegetarian. All of the Medifast shakes and the majority of their other products, such as the puddings, bars and oatmeal cereals, get their protein from either soy or whey sources.
In fact, all of the following Medifast foods are vegetarian:
All Medifast Shakes, including shakes for Diabetics, Coronary Health and Women's shakes; Medifast Ready-to-Drink shakes; Hot beverages including cocoa, chai and cappuccino; Cream of Tomato soup, Robust Tomato Soup; Puddings, including chocolate, banana and vanilla puddings; all Medifast bars; all flavors of oatmeal; and also the Iced Teas, Fruit Drinks, Soy Crisps, and Crackers.
Here are some tips to help get you going with the Medifast diet as a vegetarian.
Staying Lean & Green
The lean & Green meal is the one meal of the day in which you decide for yourself what you are going to eat, based upon the Medifast guidelines. Each day you'll have your choice of fresh food to eat and there are plenty of high protein options for vegetarians that stick within the guidelines and will allow you to add plenty of variety to your daily diet without getting bored.
Vegetarians can select from the following for their protein sources for the Lean & Green meal: low-fat cheese; eggs or egg substitute; firm or soft tofu; low fat cottage cheese; Boca burgers, and Morningstar Burgers or "Chicken" patties.
Be Sure to Eat Enough
As a vegetarian, your calorie intake will generally be lower than people who are eating meat every day, even if they are sticking with lean meats. While it is important to keep the calorie deficit in order to lose weight, it is also necessary for you to get enough calories to keep your body working effectively as a machine. If you are a vegetarian who is using the Medifast diet, make sure that you stick within the vegetarian guidelines so that you are getting plenty to eat throughout the day and make sure you eat the full recommended serving.
As well, make sure that you are eating the other five Medifast meals throughout the day. Don't skip any meals. The weight will come off quickly enough without skipping meals and you'll be more successful sticking with the program if you don't allow yourself to get hungry.
