In the past mixed martial arts was the domain of aggressive young alpha males looking to prove something to them selves and even though it still remains a mainly male focused sport, a new and equally impressive MMA ladies league has quietly risen up out of the testosterone fueled octagon ring. From its humble beginnings as a small group of enthusiastic girls mixing wrestling and kickboxing in Japan and calling themselves the "Smack Girls," the MMA ladies league rose to fame in 2009 as the US based "Strikeforce" group. This new and very popular event has gradually birthed a variety of it own skilled fighters including Rachelle Leah, Joanne Spraklen, Kenda Perez and Amber Nicole Miller; who apart from being top martial artists themselves are undoubtedly stunningly beautiful. In fact female MMA has added a very welcomed soft side to the sometimes overly aggressive world of mixed martial arts and has inspired large sporting goods companies to coming out with a line of appealing MMA ladies apparel and equipment that not only protects, but also looks sexy.
Recently it was heard that the men's 'Ultimate Fighting Championship" league bought out the major "Strikeforce" group putting the future of MMA ladies fighting in jeopardy, as the UFC has never been very supportive of women fighting there is no telling what will happen.
