What Should The United States Do About the Middle East?

Is it possible America is about to reap what it sowed in the Middle East? There is no sense debating whether or not the war in Iraq was a stupid war started by a President with an axe to grind. That's the past, it is what it is.
Instead, America had better quickly get its act together and develop a plan which addresses how to handle the current unrest and overthrow of dictatorships in the Middle East. This response plan should be prepared without emotion, finger pointing or along party lines, we could be fighting for our very existence.
The United States brought down the Saddam dictatorship, right or wrong it's gone, and with it the only deterrent and threat to Iran gaining complete control over the Muslim dominated Middle East.
Tunisia's overthrow of its' dictatorship has spawned political unrest and violence throughout the area with Egypt being the latest and most dangerous situation for United States interests. It's quite feasible a radical Muslim dominated Middle East could quickly initiate a complete stranglehold of America by turning off the oil spigot.
A united, American hating, Muslim Middle East with Iran manipulating the entire scenario behind the scenes would not cave in and turn the oil back on as it's a Jihad and their foot would be on our throat.
There's little debate it would require military force to extract concessions from the enemy in order to return the flow of oil. Based on this assumption let's look at the current military situation we find ourselves in.
Our Army in Iraq is ill prepared to counter an all out attack from outside forces surrounding Iraq. The troops, although the best in the world, are exhausted from years of war and endurance of several rotations.
Our Forces in Afghanistan, which should have been withdrawn years ago before we repeated Russia's mistake, is unqualified and ill equipped to fight a desert war. That's not to say the troops could not be reequipped and adapt to desert warfare, but the logistics are enormous and time sparse.
We have thousands of troops stationed in Korea separating South Korea from the crazed North Korean dictator, but why. South Korea is a major economic power which should be able to fight its own war if attacked. Why do we continue to play nursemaid? If the South Koreans require help, let them turn to Japan, who has as much to lose if North Korea exploits war as the South does.
Organizing, equipping, and retraining these troops into an effective desert fighting force would not be attainable unless we were engaged in a prolonged war. The immediate affects of a complete oil embargo on the United States would not allow a long term conflict on our part. Running our mechanized army without fuel (oil) would be like our soldiers fighting without water. It can't last long.
So how should America respond to this new threat? Initially, our leaders had better stop bickering about Health Care and give the matter the urgent attention it deserves.
Troops from Afghanistan should be drawn down as soon as possible, but as orderly as possible in order to insure the safety of our soldiers. A Viet Nam type withdrawal would be catastrophic, we're not running, we're redeploying.
Troops in Korea should be drawn down towards the original adviser numbers of the 1950s. Should North Korea go crazy and return to war, it would quickly erupt into a nuclear holocaust, as it would be madness to go from saber rattling to actual conflict. The North Koreans would rather destroy both sides of the country than suffer defeat in a conventional war, so our troops would be of no use except to increase the body count.
The United States should immediately institute a draft. Immediate, when discussing Washington D.C., means sometime in the future, as red tape, government bureaucracy and political maneuvering would delay the actual implementing of the program.
However, the announcement of such action would demonstrate to the Middle East, and the rest of the entire world, the United States foresees the plan to destroy America and is prepared to implement whatever means it deems necessary to protect our country.
