Al Qaida Members Come From Everywhere, Including the United States

An Al Qaida spokesman recently encouraged Moslems to carry out attacks in the United States and Europe. He said that it is a duty and obligation to carry out these attacks. This is not an unusual occurrence. Al Qaida has been active in making public threats against the US and Europe for years. This particular threat is interesting because the spokesman was not born in Saudi Arabia, Iran, or Iraq. He was born in the United States.
The Al Qaida spokesman is Adam Gadahn. He didn't grow up a Moslem, nor did he grow up in a Moslem-dominant city. He grew up in a farm in California, and was raised a Christian. He converted to Islam at age 17. Now he is fighting against the country of his birth.
The recent video starring Gadahn encourages Moslem immigrants in particular, especially in cities like Paris, Detroit, and London, which have large Moslem immigrant populations; many of these newcomers have found it difficult to find decent employment.
Gadahn is not new to terrorism. He has been wanted by the FBI since 2004. This is not the first Al Qaida video that he has appeared in.
The United States is not doing much to prevent the production of future Al Qaida terrorists. It does not do anything to prevent extremist mosques from spreading; in fact, it does just the opposite. Feisal Abdul-Rauf, who is expected to lead the Ground Zero mosque, has ties to radical Islam and terrorist groups like Hamas and Al Qaida (through the Perdana Global Peace Organisation, which helped fund the "Peace Flotilla", co-sponsored by the IHH, allegedly involved with the terrorist groups), yet the government not only is not trying to prevent its construction, it is paying Rauf to travel overseas to raise money to fund the project. America's actions are showing the world that it is not going to do anything to stop the spread of Islamic terrorism.
There is no need to demonize Moslems. The Constitution guarantees freedom of religion, and most Moslems live their lives in peace with no intention of performing acts of treason; however, because we do know that there are Islamic extremists in this country intent on harming this country, it would make sense to discourage extremist behavior and not reward people who suspiciously look that they may have ties to terrorism. The United States needs to discourage, not encourage, future Al Qaida spokesmen from being grown domestically.
